Storywall

An insider’s look at one of Australia’s most revered cultural institutions.
Client
We conceived our Storyteller platform as a blank canvas for telling intimate, surprising and personal stories, like those of the curators and technicians and the NFSA. It creates a moment for audiences and the NFSA to connect, sharing their important work and personal drive.

Background

The centrepiece of the National Film and Sound Archive’s Hive exhibition, Storywall is an interactive life-size installation showcasing six NFSA insiders and revealing the passion and expertise that drives them to undertake some of the most fascinating work many of us have never heard of.

It provides visitors with an opportunity to explore stories about the treasures in the NFSA’s vast collection and witness the passion of the people who love and care for more than three million items preserved by our national institution.

Utilising the audience’s phone as a streaming device, the project is available in English, Arabic, French, Hindi, Japanese, Mandarin and Spanish, making perfect use of our multiuser Storyteller platform.

The project was a tight collaboration between the Distil and NFSA teams, combining our strong creative and technical direction with the NFSA’s content production and interviewing. It reflects an ambitious approach to storytelling by one of Australia’s most beloved cultural institutions.
